Homework

Homework is a vital part of the school’s total curriculum. The actual experience of completing homework assignments independently is what is of value. Homework is given in a number of different forms, and may be given for completion overnight or for an extended period.

The purposes of homework are to reinforce and apply concepts introduced in class; to develop the habit of working and learning; to develop a sense of responsibility; to develop sound organizational and study skills; and to provide a sharing of learning experiences between parents and their child.

Parents can assist by providing a specific place for the student to work, free from distractions, encouraging the establishment of a time schedule for homework completion, and by showing interest in homework assignments.

An Open House is held at each school at the beginning of the school year. Parents visit the classrooms, meet teachers, and receive an overview of curriculum, homework policy and academic expectations.
