Birch Fifth-Graders Tackle Avalanche Engineering Challenge

Fifth-grade students in Birch School’s Science Enrichment program recently took part in an engaging avalanche engineering challenge.

After carefully planning and constructing their own “catch” systems using a variety of materials, students tested their designs by attempting to stop a model boulder rolling down a simulated mountain.

Throughout the project, students demonstrated creativity, critical thinking, and strong problem-solving skills.

From soft barriers to netted designs, each group approached the challenge in a unique way.
